1905 (?) Early Menlo Agriculture

These photographs depict agricultural activity in and near Menlo, Georgia. The images were possibly taken between 1905 and 1915.

This photograph shows what appears to be some sort of mule-powered cane crusher.

Perhaps these men are processing the syrup squeezed from the cane in the previous photograph.

Baskets full of fresh Menlo peaches are ready for market. By 1903 there were an estimated one million peach trees in Chattooga County.

Load 'em up and move 'em out.

Photographs courtesy of Menlo resident Tim Day. Several of Tim's relatives are seen in the photographs.
