1960 Trion Golf Tourney


The annual Trion Golf Tourney was held in August 1960 at the old Trion golf course. The following photographs were taken by T. Emmett Nunn for the Trion Facts.

Byron Chapman of LaFayette checks his score with John Hartline and Henry Bankey at the scorers table. In front is the N.B Murphy trophy that goes each year to the winner. Chapman cut 3 strokes on his 2nd round 33 and finished 1 under on the final leg for a 103. He became the 14th winner of the annual contest.

The winners of the Tourney were (standing) Dub Brown, 6th flight winner; Byron Chapman of LaFayette, Tourney Champion; J.W. Greenwood, Trion's Club Champion, finished 4th in the tourney of 153 entries; Joe Hood of Marietta, 3rd flight winner. In front, Jim Moseley, runner up, 2nd flight, and Elmer Wilson, Chattanooga, 4th flight winner.
