From the July 13, 1960 edition of the Chattooga Democrat newspaper:
RETIRING
AND GOIN' FISHIN': Burt Massey is presented a rod and reel by his
fellow employees on the first shift at the weave room at Riegel
Textiles. He is retiring after 26 years as a weaving fixer and after
compiling what officials say is one of the finest work records at the
Trion mill. Mr. Massey, who will be 67 years old in September, came to
Trion in September 1934. He was born in Heywood County, N.C. and is the
father of three sons: Gene, who will work on his Master of Arts
degree this summer at the University of Georgia; Terry, who is with the
United States Air Force stationed in Oregon; and Edward, the head
electrician for Rich's, Inc. at Rich's Lenox Square store.
