The ten finalists for the 1960 Miss Chattooga County pageant appeared in this photograph taken for the May 11, 1960 edition of the Chattooga Democrat newspaper. Each candidate's sponsor was also listed in the caption.

From left to right (front row) are Shirley Adams (Donald Cain's Grocery), Joan Tucker (Serritt's Sinclair Service Station), and Linda Wheeler (Hobby Shop).  Back row: Wanda Crowe (Jackson Chevrolet Company), Martha James (Pullen's Service Station), Mary Lou Caldwell (Mark's Used Car Lot), Lanell Hartline ( * ), Mary Frances Lowrance (Walt's Used Car Lot), Sherry Woods (Tro-Fe Milk), and Brenda Wright (Joyce's House of Flowers).

According to the Summerville News, Joan Tucker, a 1959 graduate of Summerville High School, became 1960's Miss Chattooga County at the pageant held in the school auditorium. Second place went to Shirley Adams, and Linda Wheeler won third place. Money raised from the event was earmarked for the school's Junior-Senior banquet.
