The
3rd shift at the Trion Cotton Mill (Riegel) posed for this photograph
made with a special panoramic camera in October 1940. The uniformed
women worked in Riegel's glove mill. This photograph hangs inside a
glass cabinet as you enter Mount Vernon Mill's main office building.
Due to the size of the photograph, it was scanned in sections and
digitally "stitched" together which accounts for some overlap of faces
at three different places.
The
late Jennifer Cox was a big help in getting all the photographs ready
for me to scan on the day I visited the Mount Vernon office in 2011.
