John L. Riegel became head of the Trion Company following the death of his cousin, Benjamin D. Riegel, in 1941. He was named chairman of Riegel Textile Corporation in 1946 and maintained that position until his retirement in 1963. A graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, John Riegel died in 1987 at the age of 89.
