old library

The Summerville Library was once located inside the city hall building, with an entrance that faced Cox Street.

Summer vacation meant time for your mom to drag you down there, kicking and screaming, to start your summer reading program.

While she ran errands in town (e.g. - Lowry's, Southern 5 & 10, Bohannon's), you'd make a few perfunctory selections and sit down at one of the kid's tables.

Soon, the big floor fan would lull you to sleep with its soothing rumble.

I can... almost... hear... i... zzzzzzzzz.
