lodge at trion

The Riegel Lodge was built on the grounds of the Trion golf course in the late 1920s.  Originally to be the clubhouse, legend has it that mill owner B.D. Riegel, upon seeing the large structure, declared it too luxurious for its intended purpose, but adequate to house his family whenever they visited Trion.

The photograph shown above was made sometime in the early 1970s and appears courtesy of the Chattooga County Library.
